Here is a rough preview. It's not even a months worth of progress. [Clickety Click]
I have a rough understanding of 3D concepts due to school and OG help from Nobby on teaching me basic concepts back in the day. I'm learning something new every time I work on the mod
I'm a beta tester as well. In addition to beta testing I'm making my first car mod. An Acura Integra Type R with a JDM front end conversion (what I drive in irl haha)
Would love to hear some news on it. I saw that it had moved to turbo duck but couldn't really find info.. Its alive? Any info would be interesting, Audrey thanks!
Yooo it’s been a phat minute. Hope y’all are doin good. Saw that test drive is makin a comeback which is so dope. Cant wait to see what they come up with

Here you can discuss about existing carmods and collect links to mods and mod-pages.
Attention: Please post only links to the pages/threads where you find the mods and no direct links to filehosters! (We don't wanna get in trouble with the modders.)
Id go for the LP640 Personally i think it has a more aggressive and angular body shape to it, it looks errm sharper, like it would chop you in two rather than just run you over, which i like in cars A lot of the old american muscle was like that. Which is what i can't wait for. We already have the charger, and the old mustang, now lets have some of the others, the old camaro, firebird, riviera ( the one Nicholas cage drives at the start of Drive Angry ) there are loads to choose from.
We have plenty of race cars in the game already, lets have some more nice cruisers..
I managed to unpack one of the big files and get files renamed.. but after that Im not sure what the basic requirements are to run an unpacked game.. allowing these mods... anyone tried? what do I need to unpack
you need to unpack all of the big / map files, then rename them, you should now have all the correct folders, such as Vehicles, levels, music, etc, containing .bnk's. Copy all that into your TDU/Euro/Bnk folder ( the same folder that has the Video folder in it ) Now delete all your Big/map files from your Root Tdu folder ( the files you just unpacked ) ( id recommend just moving them somewhere safe ) Now load the game using LightLauncher/Universal Launcher by Knyazev.
So its just Extract the originals, Replace them with the unpacked stuff, then remove the originals, then run the game.
I think thats all you do. Id copy the big/map files somewhere else first, extract them then copy that con tents back into the euro/bnk folder rather than extracting everything directly in the tdu folder.
You shouldn't need to extract the .bnk's themselves, you only need to do that if you are making a car mod. Unless the car mod's readme says otherwise, id presume you just have to replace the bnk's and maybe a few other files, with the ones you downloaded.

How do you unpack it in the first place? :S
This ^
Also, in unpacked TDU2 you can replace normal sounds, with sound mods from TDU1? That would be awesome to replace annoying sound of Zonda and F430. !lol
first port of call SHOULD have been google I just typed " how to unpack tdu2 files " into google and the very first section of results that came up were the expected ones ( i know some of the places it was posted already and they were the results that came up first) Or to make it quicker for you read Sethioz wiki page it has a section on unpacking .big/.map files.
Also it might not say anywhere about it, but if you do run unpacked you cannot use "up launcher " ever again. As that checks game files and will throw a major spaz attack if it detects an unpacked game. Which in return means IF/when they update the game again you will have to reinstall it or not update the game..

Well if you can replace an entire car then of course you can replace just the sounds for it, silly but all of these changes will ONLY be seen by you. You can make a Porsche... sorry RUF shaped like a banana if you wanted, but everyone else will just see a RUF as all files are stored locally not server side, the only file that does not go by that rule are the .STI files ( stickers ) they get uploaded to servers as and when users need to see them. Thats why sometimes people can say " hey what do you think of my awesome paint job" and all you can see is a blurry mess, then all of a sudden it appears. Thats the result of the sticker data not yet being sent to you, then it finished sending it and you can see it.
paint what? the replacement cars? should be able to, dunno about stickering them tho, that all depends if the car has a uv set for it, if not the entire car would act as if it had one of those 2 pixel paint markers ( like the unsticker -able parts of some cars ) And... i can't do a video as i don't run my game unpacked ( nor will it be until after dlc 2 is released ) when i extracted them last time i extracted to a different location ( i made the mistake of extracting them to the game folder did something wrong and killed my game) so after i reinstalled it, i made sure to extract to a different location. But you already said you managed to extract one .big file you just do that but with all of them. Then move all the .big and .map files out of the game folder and copy in the extracted stuff. its really nothing special they are just big archives like rar files, treat them as such. You DL a rar file, you extract it then you get rid of the archive and keep the contents. Thats all you do here. You just have to run that renamer script on it after extraction to give them the proper names and folders. worst thing that could happen... you kill your game, no biggie it wont effect your save game folder, so just re-install it and your good to go.
Heres the best help i can give you. take a look at this post Link It should be the one that starts with "Here's an even faster way to unpack the game" That should do everything for you automatically.
EDIT also you will need to DL this, sorry LINK Its an updated unpacker to account for the explo dlc, if i remember correctly you can copy over the old unpacker in the first link with this one then run it all and it should unpack everything. If you run into any issues, look at that link on page 28, and have a look a few pages before and after it too. Thats where EVERYONE got the info about unpacking from.
Hope that helps..
Nobby. ( btw dont blame me if this screws your game up) it worked for me ( eventually ) and loads of other people too.
