@Xengs. i finally found out the difference between an AMD phenom and a phenom black. Black denotes a fully unlocked multiplier (for easier over clocking) they also run about 10% faster as standard than a OEM chip. like the OEM will run at 2.8 ghz and the black will run at 3.2 ghz or something around that range.
Hmm, it honestly really depends on how much you are willing to spend .. for each piece i guess.
For example, I bought a GTX570 when i bought my computer. Guessing back then it was worth a good $400 AU .. it lasted me a good 2 years, so Since the release of BF3.
And now when it died i bought my current card the GTX770 .. which was $440. I estimate it would last at least another 2 years before i would upgrade.
But you kind of have to balance it out, because i doubt you can just buy one part by part.
I dont really know anything about computers, but im guess if you dont have enough ram even if you get a good card you computer or motherboard wont support it .. but if you get a good CPU its pointless if your card is worthless. Might as well save up a good $1500 and go all out. (convert from AUS to whatever currency you use.)
I have a quick Gaming PC question. I was looking into buying it piece by piece until I can afford all of the parts. It then occurred to me that the pieces might obsolete. I was just wondering, how fast do the parts obselete? I was just wondering, is it better to wait and buy all of the pieces at once, or get most of them now and the rest later as I can afford them?
My saves have gotten corrupt at least 10 times due to the famous Blue Screen of Death back when I was running Windows xp.. Whenever I did Alt+Tab, my GPU would panic and my computer would crash.. Oh good old Windows xp
Ya know I actually love that I got my save corrupt because now i'm able to rediscover all the things and i've forgotten some of the Hex codes : / lol but i've got them back in my head again! might do a few Tuts on the things I remembered...
Before you do anything.. Consider this.. Do you actually need to run the game in extracted mode?? You only need to extract the game files if you intend on modifying the actual game itself. Weather that be doing rim swaps, adding new car mods (such as the lambo or bmw) or altering the files in the .BNK's ( messing with .bnk files is a whole other story, so dont worry about that right now) . If you have no intention of doing any of that, then you do not need to extract the game archives. Also you do not need to extract the archives if you are just doing sticker imports with texmod.
Now thats out of the way.. onto the fun part
UPDATED on 27/01/2013. Works with the DLC2 build 16 patch.
Just download the needed files below and follow the few basic instructions, to unpack the game.
Things you will need...
Most importantly, you will need to be running the Euro version, NOT the Russian version. This cannot unpack the Russian version. You can tell if you have the Euro/Russian version. Look at some of your .big files, you will have either "bigfile_EU_1.big" or "bigfile_RUS_1.big" EU=Euro RUS=Russia"
Also very important, you will need Knyazev's V2.2 extractor files. Found Here
You will also need Knyazev's NEW Universal Launcher V3.2. Found HERE+Note Universal launcher is NOT the same as Uplauncher.exe
Approximately 30GB of hard drive space for the extracted files and the backup files.
Some free time.. It can take anywhere between 10 mins to an hour, depending how fast your computer is.
Crayons, paper, glue, scissors and an adult to help with the tricky cutting out.
++This tutorial has now got SUPER EASY to follow, even a monkey could follow how to extract the game now.. In fact a monkey could train his pet goat how to unpack TDU, its that easy..++If you have any issues make sure UAC is turned off and that you run the unpacker in admin mode.
OK now to get started.... You have 2 choices with this unpacker. Either unpack just the DLC2 updates or unpack everything..
1 Download the Unpacker and the launcher from the links above, to somewhere you can remember, like your desktop.
2 Extract the contents of the unpacker to your desktop, then copy all of the files to your Main TDU game folder, See fig #1
3 Now run either the "unpack_full.bat" to unpack the whole game, or run the "unpack_dlc2_v031.bat" to unpack just the DLC content.
4 Thats it, it should be unpacking now ( see fig 4 and 5) , give it some time ( it can take up to 30-45 minutes )
5 Once finished, Extract the universal launcher to your main game folder. Start the game using that instead of Uplauncher.
What happens when its running??? Firstly the unpacker will open a command prompt window (fig4) and start listing all the files it is extracting from the .big and .map files ( your main game archives) see (fig 2 and 3 ) As its extracting them, they will be placed in your main game folder, see (fig 5). Once it has finished extracting, it will rename and then move all the files to their correct folder locations. When it has finished moving all the files ( that part only takes a short amount of time) you are ready to play the game. Use the universal launcher to run the game instead of Uplauncher to avoid the auto file check.

OK go away now.. you are done. let me sleep Have fun.. Nobby
Big thanks to. All the guys who worked on all the internal filenames. And Knyazev for releasing a super easy unpacker AND a new version of universal launcher... You rock dude!
Edit 30/9/12 Donnie:
The Thanks goes to ExigeDriver for this nice video-tutorial.
ok im on it. already google translated ( yes it really was that simple ) Gimme a few minutes to check through it and make sure it does actually work..
OK ive checked and it seems to unpack the files ok. ive actually made it easier than it says on that other site. they included some EXE which i didnt like. so ive adjusted the unpack script from the old unpacker to include the new info as well. ill have the new file up and adjust the tutorial appropriately very shortly.....

Hello there.. something very weird is happening.. At first I was able to unpack my game and it worked fine. A month ago, I unpacked my game and was extremely happy by the results. However, I had to reinstall the game for some reasons. I have 2 copies of TDU2, a DVD and on Steam. So I tried unpacking my steam TDU2 and it didn't work. Decided to uninstall it and try installing the game through its DVD. When I started unpacking, I was able to see .bin files being extracted in my folder. However, when it finished, my Euro file was still empty. Anyone had this problem before? This is driving me insane.
check that you was running the unpacker in Admin mode, or failing that if your game is stored on your C drive (the same drive as your OS ) then you will probably need to turn off UAC ( user account control ) from the control panel. UAC stops you from doing things on your main hard drive, to help protect your OS install. it will be one or both of those reasons that it hasnt worked. It's usually Admin mode though as that will still look like its unpacking but you wont have any files at the end of it...
yes it does still work. patch 16 is no different to patch 15. the only thing that got updated was the exe. There wasnt any additional Big/Map files in that patch. Even if there were additional files it would still be able to unpack most of it. As the unpacker just unpacks any/all big/map files it can see. Its only the renaming and moving process that it needs the information on.
It will be something on your computer that is stopping it running properly...If its not UAC and its not Admin mode, then im really not sure what it could be. But yeah the unpacker works fine...
Ooh just thought.. try disabling any virus checker you may have running... just in case its that ( i doubt it is but you never know )..
Just to clarify, It is actually unpacking ( you see bin files appearing ) but when its finished you have nothing in your EURO/BNK folder...
Have you checked to see if the files are going anywhere else... If they are actually unpacking, then we know the unpacker itself is working.. its just the renaming/moving process isnt going according to plan.. Which means the files must have gone somewhere...
BTW you dont have to unpack the game files directly in your game folder.. There is nothing stopping you copying/moving the Bin/Map files to somewhere else ( like a folder on your desktop) copying the unpacker files into that folder as well and run the unpacker from there. You just have to remember, when moving the files back ALL big/map files need to be put in a folder other than the main game folder, so something like TestDriveUnlimited2/backup/ will be fine.. Or you could keep them in a folder on another drive if you wanted. And all the unpacked data needs to go in the games EURO/BNK folder. You don't need to keep the unused files ( they are unused remember lol )
EDIT.. one thing i just noticed you said in your first post... "When I started unpacking, I was able to see .bin files being extracted in my folder. However, when it finished, my Euro file was still empty." Your EURO folder should never be empty.. even on a brand new install.. it should contain at least one folder " shaders". but when its unpacked the data it should contain a second folder " BNK"
Are you saying your Euro folder is completely empty?? or are you saying it had a "shaders" folder but no "BNK" folder? Or was you expecting the Euro folder to be filled with lots of folders ( because its not supposed to be.) Its not the Euro folder that you should see all the files in, its the EURO/BNK folder you see all the unpacked data in.. I would check and answer this bit first then if your BNK folder doesnt have all the data in it, then id try unpacking in a different folder and moving the data to the game folder after...

By empty, I was actually referring to the original files in Euro folder. I apologize for causing this misunderstanding. However, I do thank you for replying and helping me. It seemed that the FileList.log file was missing from my directory. What I thought I had all files in my directory was wrong. It seemed that I was missing out the most important file. Seems to be working fine now. I thank you once again mate.. <3
