Here is a rough preview. It's not even a months worth of progress. [Clickety Click]
I have a rough understanding of 3D concepts due to school and OG help from Nobby on teaching me basic concepts back in the day. I'm learning something new every time I work on the mod
I'm a beta tester as well. In addition to beta testing I'm making my first car mod. An Acura Integra Type R with a JDM front end conversion (what I drive in irl haha)
Would love to hear some news on it. I saw that it had moved to turbo duck but couldn't really find info.. Its alive? Any info would be interesting, Audrey thanks!
Yooo it’s been a phat minute. Hope y’all are doin good. Saw that test drive is makin a comeback which is so dope. Cant wait to see what they come up with
Very nice setup. Do you use it for anything other than games? With that kind of kit, you could run most 2d/3d apps, video editing, audio editing, music creation software, very comfortably.

Well... why not post mine too:

Yep, I edit videos (mostly Premiere Pro, sometimes After Effects), use Illustrator and Photoshop a lot (which quickly fills my 16gb of RAM on my most complex PSDs) and other stuff as well.
My small audio edits would be fine on an old Core2Duo.
I haven't done much on the 3D software side that needs a beefy PC, but I might in the future. I have to say it's very nice to be able to preview 1080p 60fps videos with some effects (color grading, transitions) in (most of the time) real-time (with a little bit of help from CUDA too), something my older i3 540 @ 4.21Ghz couldn't do at all
That's why I went with the i7 and not an i5 which would've been absolutely fine for my gaming.

Welp... I guess since i've spent over 1300 dollars on my new rig then it's worth talking about it.
OS: Windows 10 Professional 64-bit CPU: Intel i7 4790K @ 4Ghz GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i MOBO: ASUS Z97-PRO USB 3.1 RAM: 2x8GB (16GB) DDR3 G.Skill SSD: TBA HDD: Unknown (most likely single platter HDD) PSU: Antec 650W PSU Case: CM HAF X Screen: ASUS 24" (to lazy to find the model #)
after the new year, well after February (when the prices drop) i will be getting a new system.. i think im going for the 1700X, 32 gb of ram and a 1080.. and also about 4tb of storage.
But i gotta wait until Feb as thats when the new batch of ryzen chips come out, so the current ones will be dropping in price.. I also need to wait for Ram to come down in price a bit, it is SUPER expensive over here right now.
Yeah i also have to wait for RAM-upgrade. I wish i had ordered 32 GByte right away when my collegue found that offer in the summer. I paid 120 euro for that one. At the moment it costs around 180.

Just upgraded my setup. Now I have a collection of a few classic macs along side my main windows PC. I bought an iMac G5, Mac Pro 1,1, as well as a Power Mac G4 Cube.
Next rig im building is gonna have a Thread ripper in it. Now gfx cards are starting to come back down in price, i can consider building it.. Just gotta wait for DDR4 to come down a bit more too and then i can go for it

Good shit Nobby! Tell me how that Ryzen processor holds up. With all this new about intel I'm thinking about finally checking out the grass on the other side of the fence. In fact. I think i'm due for a new pc once a new lineup of RTX cards comes out.
Actually, i'm a bit interested as to why you didn't choose to go with an RTX card yourself since you do quite a bit of rendering.
The reason i didnt go with an RTX was two fold. firstly, this isnt a workhorse computer, its games only (and tv and music) mostly VR. As its a games machine, there really isnt much point getting an RTX card right now. there is only like 4-5 games that actually make use of the RTX power. so you might as well go for a 1080 or something if you dont intend to play those games..
Secondly. i only got my 1070ti in december, im not gonna put it out to pasture just yet
Oh yeah also.. I dont do GPU based rendering mines all CPU based..
In response to how the Ryzens are doing.. My bro can safely overclock his ryzen 1700x (8 core 16 thread but @ 3Ghz) to 3.7ghz (same as my base level of the 2700x 8 core 16 thread. base of 3.7 turbo of 4.3) on the stock cooler that comes with it.. i could overclock mine to about 4.5ghz base speed on the stock cooler.
